This week Postsnap offered me a trial of their new app so I thought I’d share the results with you.
The purpose of it is to be able to send personalised greeting cards, postcards and announcement cards to friends. It’s super easy to use and I was really impressed with the results. I ended up doing all postcards as I don’t have any exciting announcements (babies/weddings!) right now. Sent a few to myself (obvs), one to the boy, and one to my bestie. They all loved getting them as a fun surprise and I think the prices were really good. I’ve included a bunch of screen shots for you to show what the process of building one is like, and then some snaps of the results. Hope it’s helpful!
The prices are really decent in my opinion – and it always includes postage so there’s no annoying hidden costs. As you’ll see later the large postcard is really large – so £2 seems like a bargain! Cards in shops are super expensive (hence I normally buy the charity shop ones instead) so you could easily spend £3 on a card and postage and it wouldn’t be super cute handmade personalised 🙂
Here’s an example of the edit-able cards you can make. Most of them come in several colour pallets, and you can edit the text and images on the front. It’s very user friendly but also gives quite a lot of functionality – a rare combination.
So, making a card is super simple – here’s how to do the postcard….
First you pick whether you’re doing card, postcard, etc. Then choose your design (collage, template, etc).
Next you add your images! It’s super simple – just tap to add and then resize etc. This is the best thing about the app – that you can import from facebook, instagram, or your camera roll. Saved me loads of time as I didn’t have to import images or bother with any editing – just added them straight from my instagram feed! Interestingly, my images all came up with the exclamation mark symbol meaning they’re not high enough quality, but as you’ll see in the results pictures at the end I think the quality turned out fine. Good to know it doesn’t need to be super high res!
Then you write your personalised message (with any font or colour you like) and even add a signature! Thought it was good you could choose a handwriting style font – make’s it a bit closer to a ‘traditional’ post card.
Finally – send it to any one who’s address you know! It saves the addresses for future, and if you don’t know the address you can email it instead. Handy 🙂
The only thing that I thought wasn’t much good was the filters. They were a bit intense so I’d prefer to just import straight from Instagram.
And here’s the results….
The colours are really great, and the borders turned out super cute. Like I said the picture quality seems absolutely fine to me despite the warnings – so that’s another plus. The ‘large postcard’ is actually even bigger than I expected – it’s double a normal postcard so is well worth the extra 50p I think.
The only unfortunate bit was that the corner of one was peeling off. The finish was a lovely matte suede feel, but I think my dog might’ve reached this one before me!
So – what do you think? Would you prefer it to traditional post cards or greetings cards? I think they’ll be best for holiday postcards as you can send real life pictures of your trip rather than the standard touristy ones. And you don’t even have to pay international shipping if you’re sending them back to the UK!
